Rail Live 2024
19-20 June 2024
Porterbrook’s Long Marston Rail Innovation Centre

NEW for 2024 – Engineering Theatre Agenda

For the first time, Rail Live is hosting a dedicated engineering theatre. Running across both days and hosted by prominent engineer and RAIL contributor Gareth Dennis, the theatre will explore key issues with a range of high-profile speakers and panel discussions.

Running on both days will be the Primary Engineering programme challenge. This is a not-for-profit scheme delivered in partnership with Porterbrook. 5 teams each made up of 4 primary-age children and an adult engineer will take part in a timed engineering challenge. This will celebrate the pupils' engineering achievements so all pupils taking part will be recognised for their work. The event is to start at 1100 on Day One and 1245 on Day Two.

Other topics covered across the two days include:

Day one topics:

1. How do suppliers get ahead of the railway’s needs?

2. Unlocking freight’s potential

Day two topics:

1. Solving the track access equation

2. Real-world uses of machine learning

3. Rail Partners with Ukraine

4. Relearning the lessons of cost effective electrifications

Rail Live and the General Election

We’re sure you know that the UK is about to hold a General Election – and this will bring unavoidable changes to certain aspects of the speaker line-up, given that Rail Live takes place during the period of election ‘purdah’.

However, where changes are unavoidable, we’re doing our utmost to make sure we have suitable replacements, and we’ll update our speaker line-up before the show.

With a broad and comprehensive range of discussions, plus an unrivalled display of plant and innovative equipment, we’re confident that Rail Live is, and will remain, an unmissable event.
